Hotel Review Guide, 2004
This space-age inn is comprised of two buildings---the Hideaway and the Oasis---that look as if they were lifted straight out of the Jetsons. Lovers of retro and modernist designs, as well as hangers on from an earlier era, flock here to lounge around, looking cool on the classic furnishings by Charles Eames and his gang, and sip complimentary poolside refreshments. For those who turn up their noses at the new breed of neo-classical resorts popping up all over, this throwback offers refreshing authenticity.. The hotel is a secluded bastion of hip sensibilities, peppered with beautiful people (the same ones you'll find on L.A.'s Sunset Strip) who look great just hanging out in their swimming garb. Mid-century guest rooms offer mountain views, and while they're comfy, guests don't come here to tuck in with a good book. There are two swimming pools, one of which boasts the Boomerang Bar, and they are definitely the place to be. The hotel is within walking distance of the boutiques and cafés on Palm Canyon Drive.
